A Quick 'How to Make Your Own Calendar' Lesson - Part 2

Thinking you want to make your own calendar? Well, you can learn a lot from this article. I'm going to share with you some of the best and worst when it comes to creating a calendar yourself, from home, on your own color printer...

You see, what happened to me was that I got deluded in my own 'instant' success. I had just made an agreement with a local businessman who was quite prepared to pay me to MAKE a calendar... Incredible! In fact, I was so thrilled at the prospect that I forgot to map out the costs for the project! Note to self: in the business world, dude, this is what people do!

In hindsight, what I should have done was plan the whole project out, step by step, and cost by cost. So, if you're planning to create a calendar for someone, make sure you do the numbers. It's easy to blow things out of proportion. Here's an example...

Everything was going fine. I was shooting terrific black and white photography and only needed 12 good shots. Too easy! And the calendar template was a simple matter to lay out in a design program. After some long, persistent searching I finally found the right inkjet paper. And then I started to print...

It was at this step that my calendar dreams sort of disappeared out the nearest window. I was tearing through ink like a thirsty dog and my choice imported paper caused nothing but chaos with my printer. Note to anyone who wants to create a calendar: Use a paper that looks great, but slides EASILY through your printer. When you're doing a job for someone else, practicality, ease and costs comes first!

Still want to make your own calendar? Excellent! It does work, but a little planning goes a long way! What happened with my project was that I focused on perfection instead of focusing on completion! There's a huge and costly difference, believe me. So when it's your turn to do this, keep things simple and remember what I said!

Below you'll find where to get free calendar templates that'll allow you to make your own calendar easily...

Online Calendar - Making Calendars More Accessible

Due to the advent of modern technology, calendars themselves have evolved to something digital: online calendar. Due to the increasing dependence of the younger generations to modern technology and computers, online calendar has now become a preferred calendar than any other.

If you are using  an old model phones, you'll definitely won't be able to enjoy much about what online calendar thing is all about. But you still can by using a netbook, laptop, or your desktop computer at work. But if you do and still haven't figured out what we're talking about, you still are probably using the calendar that comes with your mobile. You'd probably need to start signing up for an online calendar account and start accessing it in your smartphone.

The good thing about online calendar is that they can be easily accessed in any computer as long as internet connection is available. Also, with the development of smartphones, organizing your schedules on a paperless manner is now far from impossible. Now, there is no reason to forget your loved one's birthdays, including various appointments at home and at the office and, for ladies, shopping sale events you rather shouldn't miss and night outs with some of your closest friends.

Using an online calendar is one way by which you can organize your daily tasks, remind you of pending work to be done, and notify the people subscribed to your calendar of any changes to a schedule to which they are needed to attend. You can either have an e-mail sent to you directly whenever a task is about to expire or a change has been either by the creator of the schedule or those whose included in it. This is one key to making your family or the organization you belong to be in-sync to one other and know what you're up to at a specific time of the day. For organizations, this means that people will increase their efficiency in managing their schedules and organize their daily tasks according to priority.

There are online calendar products on the Internet that are tied up to an e-mail account and there are those that require registration much like when you are setting up an e-mail address. Google online calendar for example is tied up to a lot of special services including e-mail, checkout, photo sharing, blog, etc.

Click on the Free Blank Calendar link on the upper left side of the homepage to take you to the subpage where you can download the blank calendar template. You can also customize your calendar to make it more personal or something that your company can use for its marketing works.

The Internet is one valuable tool by which you can find more info about free online calendar around. Simply put "online calendar" and search for hundreds of online calendars available for you to use. Remember, however, that not all calendars out there are useful and some of them don't offer much feature that will be useful for individuals and organization. One online calendar I can recommend is Google Calendar. If you already have a Gmail account, you're free to start an online calendar that you can use anytime of the day.

It may seem like a mundane thing, but when you think about it everyone really does need a calendar. Some of us subsist with the one in our email, on our phone, or our computer, but there is something appealing, classic, and comforting about a traditional wall calendar, with full color pages, day squares you can draw X's through, and reminders of holidays we've never even heard of. So in this article what we're going to do is show you how to make your own calendar using CafePress (CafePress.com) and a few other tools...

One of the first things you'll need to create a calendar is some good images. You've no doubt some groovy ideas in your head about what'll work best for you. If you're thinking beautiful landscapes, nature photos, inspirational images, or pets and family then something tells me you're on the right track. You usually need either 1 to 12 photos, depending on what type of calendar you decide on. (Can't find the right photo? Try looking at a few stock photo websites).

The next phase is deciding what type of calendar you want to create. A good way to 'see' what I'm talking about here is to take yourself along to CafePress and look at the different types of calendars. Go to the bottom of the page, click on 'cards and stationery' then click on 'calendars' in the left hand navigation.

There you'll see oversized wall calendars, vertical calendars and calendar prints, etc. After you've dosed up on enough ideas to sink a ship and are motivated to make your own calendar, log in and upload your selected photos. Note: This part is where you need to have your images correctly edited, with a suitable resolution and so on. CafePress has a handy guide that'll show you how to do all this before you print anything.

The other important ingredient when you make your own calendar with CafePress is that you need to fit your images or design into a calendar template. To find this essential template instruction page look for home > customer service > product templates. I'm sure you'll understand how to use this template easier than I did! :)

And of course it goes without saying. Make sure your new calendar look stunning!

You Need to Make a Calendar That Works For You

One of the easiest ways to create a calendar is to use a website with a calendar customizer. Others require users to download a software to make calendar customization easier and faster but risk the user from downloading viruses or malware programs especially if the website is not protected by a potent anti-virus program.

To make calendar useful, one has to consider allowing more space for notes where people could add in information such as their appointments with their doctors, dentists, teachers in school, and meetings with their colleagues at work. At the same time, to make calendar interesting, the calendar must allot space for pictures of people or places or abstract images that a user will find interesting to see on a daily basis.

Also, popular MS Office applications such as MS Excel and MS Word can be used to make calendar making easy. You just need to follow some steps as provided in the prompt while creating your personalized calendar and print it using a laser or ink-jet color printer although the black and white ones will also do.

MS Word and MS Excel allow the change of the calendar's format which includes its fonts and which day comes first in the calendar and the month. It however does not allow photos to be added on the calendar. Other experienced graphic designers or enthusiasts however can create a more unique one but what would prove to be a real problem in the end is printing.

Many websites allow you to create free or paid calendar. You can choose between the two depending on your needs. The free calendar is found by typing into Google the exact phrase words (with quotes) "Free Blank Calendar" and you will find many websites. The paid calendar is for professionals who require a more advanced and organized time management program that they use for work. Just do the same thing at Google except type in the phrase words "Paid Blank Calendar" and you will have a lot of resources to choose.

Some of the best online search engines can help you look for websites containing information about calendars. Try using the keyword "calendar boards" in your search query and hit your keyboard's Enter key. By doing so, you will find an innumerable websites offering you to make calendar that is free of charge. You will also find some paid products where it will allow you to make a certain degree of customization on your calendar.  But customization sounds fun, it may not be easy for each of the providers available on the Internet.
