A Quick 'How to Make Your Own Calendar' Lesson - Part 2

Thinking you want to make your own calendar? Well, you can learn a lot from this article. I'm going to share with you some of the best and worst when it comes to creating a calendar yourself, from home, on your own color printer...

You see, what happened to me was that I got deluded in my own 'instant' success. I had just made an agreement with a local businessman who was quite prepared to pay me to MAKE a calendar... Incredible! In fact, I was so thrilled at the prospect that I forgot to map out the costs for the project! Note to self: in the business world, dude, this is what people do!

In hindsight, what I should have done was plan the whole project out, step by step, and cost by cost. So, if you're planning to create a calendar for someone, make sure you do the numbers. It's easy to blow things out of proportion. Here's an example...

Everything was going fine. I was shooting terrific black and white photography and only needed 12 good shots. Too easy! And the calendar template was a simple matter to lay out in a design program. After some long, persistent searching I finally found the right inkjet paper. And then I started to print...

It was at this step that my calendar dreams sort of disappeared out the nearest window. I was tearing through ink like a thirsty dog and my choice imported paper caused nothing but chaos with my printer. Note to anyone who wants to create a calendar: Use a paper that looks great, but slides EASILY through your printer. When you're doing a job for someone else, practicality, ease and costs comes first!

Still want to make your own calendar? Excellent! It does work, but a little planning goes a long way! What happened with my project was that I focused on perfection instead of focusing on completion! There's a huge and costly difference, believe me. So when it's your turn to do this, keep things simple and remember what I said!

Online Calendar - Making Calendars More Accessible

Due to the advent of modern technology, calendars themselves have evolved to something digital: online calendar. Due to the increasing dependence of the younger generations to modern technology and computers, online calendar has now become a preferred calendar than any other.

If you are using  an old model phones, you'll definitely won't be able to enjoy much about what online calendar thing is all about. But you still can by using a netbook, laptop, or your desktop computer at work. But if you do and still haven't figured out what we're talking about, you still are probably using the calendar that comes with your mobile. You'd probably need to start signing up for an online calendar account and start accessing it in your smartphone.

The good thing about online calendar is that they can be easily accessed in any computer as long as internet connection is available. Also, with the development of smartphones, organizing your schedules on a paperless manner is now far from impossible. Now, there is no reason to forget your loved one's birthdays, including various appointments at home and at the office and, for ladies, shopping sale events you rather shouldn't miss and night outs with some of your closest friends.

Using an online calendar is one way by which you can organize your daily tasks, remind you of pending work to be done, and notify the people subscribed to your calendar of any changes to a schedule to which they are needed to attend. You can either have an e-mail sent to you directly whenever a task is about to expire or a change has been either by the creator of the schedule or those whose included in it. This is one key to making your family or the organization you belong to be in-sync to one other and know what you're up to at a specific time of the day. For organizations, this means that people will increase their efficiency in managing their schedules and organize their daily tasks according to priority.

There are online calendar products on the Internet that are tied up to an e-mail account and there are those that require registration much like when you are setting up an e-mail address. Google online calendar for example is tied up to a lot of special services including e-mail, checkout, photo sharing, blog, etc.

Click on the Free Blank Calendar link on the upper left side of the homepage to take you to the subpage where you can download the blank calendar template. You can also customize your calendar to make it more personal or something that your company can use for its marketing works.

The Internet is one valuable tool by which you can find more info about free online calendar around. Simply put "online calendar" and search for hundreds of online calendars available for you to use. Remember, however, that not all calendars out there are useful and some of them don't offer much feature that will be useful for individuals and organization. One online calendar I can recommend is Google Calendar. If you already have a Gmail account, you're free to start an online calendar that you can use anytime of the day.

Snapfish Photo Calendars Make Great Gifts

It may seem like a mundane thing, but when you think about it everyone really does need a calendar. Some of us subsist with the one in our email, on our phone, or our computer, but there is something appealing, classic, and comforting about a traditional wall calendar, with full color pages, day squares you can draw X's through, and reminders of holidays we've never even heard of. How to Make Your Own Calendar Using CafePress

Sometimes it pays to make your own calendar. Not only is it a satisfying creative pursuit but you get to add your own pictures and a personal touch to it too. So in this article what we're going to do is show you how to make your own calendar using CafePress (CafePress.com) and a few other tools...

One of the first things you'll need to create a calendar is some good images. You've no doubt some groovy ideas in your head about what'll work best for you. If you're thinking beautiful landscapes, nature photos, inspirational images, or pets and family then something tells me you're on the right track. You usually need either 1 to 12 photos, depending on what type of calendar you decide on. (Can't find the right photo? Try looking at a few stock photo websites).

The next phase is deciding what type of calendar you want to create. A good way to 'see' what I'm talking about here is to take yourself along to CafePress and look at the different types of calendars. Go to the bottom of the page, click on 'cards and stationery' then click on 'calendars' in the left hand navigation.

There you'll see oversized wall calendars, vertical calendars and calendar prints, etc. After you've dosed up on enough ideas to sink a ship and are motivated to make your own calendar, log in and upload your selected photos. Note: This part is where you need to have your images correctly edited, with a suitable resolution and so on. CafePress has a handy guide that'll show you how to do all this before you print anything.

The other important ingredient when you make your own calendar with CafePress is that you need to fit your images or design into a calendar template. To find this essential template instruction page look for home > customer service > product templates. I'm sure you'll understand how to use this template easier than I did! :)

And of course it goes without saying. Make sure your new calendar look stunning!

You Need to Make a Calendar That Works For You

One of the easiest ways to create a calendar is to use a website with a calendar customizer. Others require users to download a software to make calendar customization easier and faster but risk the user from downloading viruses or malware programs especially if the website is not protected by a potent anti-virus program.

To make calendar useful, one has to consider allowing more space for notes where people could add in information such as their appointments with their doctors, dentists, teachers in school, and meetings with their colleagues at work. At the same time, to make calendar interesting, the calendar must allot space for pictures of people or places or abstract images that a user will find interesting to see on a daily basis.

Also, popular MS Office applications such as MS Excel and MS Word can be used to make calendar making easy. You just need to follow some steps as provided in the prompt while creating your personalized calendar and print it using a laser or ink-jet color printer although the black and white ones will also do.

MS Word and MS Excel allow the change of the calendar's format which includes its fonts and which day comes first in the calendar and the month. It however does not allow photos to be added on the calendar. Other experienced graphic designers or enthusiasts however can create a more unique one but what would prove to be a real problem in the end is printing.

Many websites allow you to create free or paid calendar. You can choose between the two depending on your needs. The free calendar is found by typing into Google the exact phrase words (with quotes) "Free Blank Calendar" and you will find many websites. The paid calendar is for professionals who require a more advanced and organized time management program that they use for work. Just do the same thing at Google except type in the phrase words "Paid Blank Calendar" and you will have a lot of resources to choose.

Some of the best online search engines can help you look for websites containing information about calendars. Try using the keyword "calendar boards" in your search query and hit your keyboard's Enter key. By doing so, you will find an innumerable websites offering you to make calendar that is free of charge. You will also find some paid products where it will allow you to make a certain degree of customization on your calendar.  But customization sounds fun, it may not be easy for each of the providers available on the Internet.

Online Photo Calendars Make Remembering Dates A Pleasure

Most of us suffer memory lapses from time to time. A forgotten umbrella at a friend's place or more commonly forgotten birthdays and anniversaries are a stark reminder of this fact. Now imagine a situation where the smiling face of your grandchild reminds you about your spouse's birthday. It is a pleasure that all of us would look forward, especially if we are a little forgetful in nature, rather than the drab black circles we make on our calendars. The internet has come up with a unique way to combine the pleasure of reviving fond memories while at the same time we get an important reminder. Online photo calendars are the perfect balance of pleasure merging with necessity.

Online photo calendars are customized calendars that can be created on any website offering such facility. In such a calendar you can add any photo that you cherish so that whenever you steal a glance at it you are not only reminded about the date but also the incident when that photo had been clicked. Suppose you need to remember a family occasion, such as a wedding, coming up in the month of July. What better way than to have a family photo customized and set to represent July on your online photo calendar. The online photo calendars therefore firmly imprint our minds with the importance of particular date or month by reemphasizing dates with photos.

The online photo calendar once created can also be printed and used like a regular calendar on a desk or a wall. This would again serve as a constant reminder of good times with the photos helping you think of the moment with fond recollection. The online photo calendars come with the option of customizing the size according to your requirements. You could opt for an 11X8 horizontal calendar or even an 11X16 vertical calendar depending on the space that you have in mind for the calendar. The photo calendars spread across a wide range consisting of styles and designs that are under the category of classic, quill, architect, croquet and celebrate.

The online photo calendars can be further customized with special captions and even your own custom date entries. Depending on whether you want the photo calendar for your home or office you can customize it keeping the environment in mind. An online photo calendar would also be the ideal gift to a loved one. It would be a great idea to collect pictures of 12 fun occasions or memorable moments and arrange them according to each month. A little more effort towards making custom date entries and selecting the size and your personalized online photo calendars are ready to be gifted. Depending on your convenience you could either decide to print out the calendar or an even easier option would be to simply mail it to your family or friends.

Anyone would cherish photographs of happy events concerning their friends and family. Even if you want to customize the photo calendar with other photos easily

available on the internet, you would have still created a personalized and beautiful object. Online photo calendars have therefore gained tremendous popularity as not only personalized utility objects but also as the perfect gift for any occasion.

Using the Ovulation Calendar Makes Good Sense

Fortunately for most couples now that there are many options for over-the-counter contraception methods. One of the individual ones that is becoming the most noted is the one that they call the emergency contraceptive pills and the distinctive factors about these are that they have a dual action at being able to prevent the egg from becoming fertilized. They may even be able to act as a post fertilization. It should be noted that the ECP's as they are called are not the same as abortion which are methods that are totally different. Aside from these there are many other OTC contraceptives including the ovulation calendar.

These types of contraception are not meant to be used on a regular basis as they are just used as the name implies for an emergency. The reason that they come into the category of contraception is because their actions are before the implantation of the egg itself. There is some controversy however that it could actually act upon a fertilization and so to some anti-abortionists this method is placed in the same category as abortion. A much simpler and far more natural way for birth control or even to plan for conceiving a baby is by keeping track of peak ovulation with an ovulation calendar.

One that is becoming commonly known for contraception as a emergency step is the morning after pill as it is often referred to and it's short form is known as EHC, particularly in Europe. The concept here is that the pill itself contains doses of hormones that are found in the regular oral type contraceptive pills except that they are much higher doses. This is referring to the estrogens or progestins. An easier method than to have to go through the worries of the morning after, is by tracking ovulation using a ovulation calendar. The concept of using this type of pill is that if the pill is taken after intercourse then it prevents any potential fertilization because of the high dosage of hormones. There are some pills that do not contain any of the hormone drugs.

There are many different types of this particular type of contraceptive on the market and it should be remembered that they are not 100% foolproof even though there is a high percentage for their success. Whatever type of contraceptive is used, using an ovulation calendar combined with a contraceptive increases the chances of protection.

Most people will say that the side effects of the contraceptive methods mentioned in this article are not all that drastic. Many have found that probably the biggest problem sometimes encountered is vomiting. Then there are some more minor but less known ones such as being very tired, headache or abdominal pain but these are minimal and don't last more than a few days.

What many people don't realize is that an intrauterine device is also a good alternative as an emergency contraception when a couple has had unprotected intercourse. In fact the stats show that the success rate of the IUD far supersedes any of the other emergency methods used. When one looks at all of the aspects of these many methods though the simple use of tracking ovulation with an ovulation calendar seems to make the most sense.

See more about pregnancy and fertility at the resource section of http://www.yourdays.com The site offers a free ovulation calendar to help conceive a child or for use in natural birth control. The founder, Sally Collins, is a mother of three.

Celebrating important occasions with gifts are an integral part of life; brought to prominence by virtue of civilization. The earliest forms of gifts were twigs, wild flowers and sometimes clay pots and figurines. Gifts have indeed come a long way ever since.

Photo calendar as corporate gifts: Pocket calendars are the handiest New Year gifts. Most corporate organizations distribute pocket calendars as employee gifts. Wouldn't it be truly special to receive one with customized captions along with the company logo? It will remain in the wallet till the year end and will serve its purpose as well.

A Quick 'How to Make Your Own Calendar' Lesson - Part 1

Think it's easy to make your own calendar? Well, guess again. You can expect to have a rather challenging project on your hands. As it turns out though, you can take a leaf right out of my book on 'home made' calendar making experiments. In fact, this article will show you how to create a calendar without making all the mistakes I did...

And what does that mean for you? Well, it'll just make your life easier, believe me! Anyway, let me start at the beginning. You see, a long, long time ago I met a friendly businessman, and for some strange reason we got talking art and calendars. Why on earth, I don't know. But there we were, and there I was telling him enthusiastically how I could create a calendar that would IMPRESS him no end.

Obviously that was sheer lunacy on my part. Now if you're reading this and you want to make your own calendar and offer it to local businesses... Well, just make sure you crunch your numbers first, Okay! But back to the story...

I ended up agreeing to go around my local area, shoot some exquisite, one-of-a-kind photos, and then pull this all together in an oversized but very attractive wall calendar. Now this calendar was like nothing you've ever seen, I'll tell you. It was a real work of art. A completely unique piece of eye candy too. And best of all, I got to create a calendar that he absolutely loved...

There was only one slight problem though... The darn thing caused me near sleepless nights and nearly sent me broke in printing and paper costs! Honestly! One little ink-jet smudge could ruin my whole day. And that imported paper was way too pricey for an entrepreneurial artist to waste! So, if you take home one lesson from this article, then make it this one... Choose your paper carefully!

Well anyway, the good news is that he got a great calendar, and I learnt how important it is to PLAN a project from the ground up. So when you decide to make your own calendar, make sure you factor in the cost of things Okay! This includes stuff like ink and printing costs, paper and binding, other unseen factors, calendar templates, graphic design, and YOUR time to make it all happen!

Below you'll find where to get free calendar templates that'll allow you to make your own calendar easily...

Why Calendars Make For the Perfect Business Gift

A proven way to speed up your results and achieve the goals you want in life is by effective planning your days and weeks. However that's often easier said than done. After all, when you've got a chunk of free time, who wants to spend it planning other stuff? Just because something is essential doesn't mean it gets done! Enter the good old business gift calendar - and everything changes.

At first glance, when you go looking for a unique business gift you'll find there's probably a thousand different gifts available. But calendars stand out. Not only are they super practical (they allow us to plan for 'future dreams') but they can be customized specifically to fit your needs, turning them into a highly thoughtful, and very personal gift too.

The trouble is of course is that the good old personalized calendar costs too much. But does it really? (And how many are you planning on giving as a business gift?) A little online research will show that you can make your own calendar for about $20 and often a lot less. That's probably the low end of a good business gift expense. And look what you get.

You get to give a calendar that your friend, boss or customer will potentially look at all year round. It might even have her favorite photo on it, and be customized with her name or favorite quotation. Can you see how powerful this is? Plus you can always give her or him a mini calendar too if you want to keep your gift giving subtle and discreet, and reduce the expenses even more.

Like I said, there's a whole truck load of business gifts you could really give to a colleague, coworker or your friendly manager. But calendars stand out a mile. So the next time gift giving comes around, keep that thought in mind. :)

12 Amazing Things You Can Do With A Calendar

Apart from the old Roman practice of starting each month on a new moon, there's some pretty amazing things you can do with calendars. For example, a calendar gives you the marvellous ability to organise your time and plan future events. (Can you imagine life without a calendar?) Here's 12 amazing ways you can use a calendar right now:

1. Make appointments and schedules. Plan future events, look into past dates and generally know where you stand in the big scheme of things!

2. Always remember friends or family birthdays. After all, you've written them all down carefully in your calendar, right?

3. Know when a full moon is hovering - so you can prepare for any weird or unusual behaviour that might spring up!

4. Keep track of office essentials. Use a desktop calendar on your computer to keep track of office essentials and set reminders, etc.

5. Plan for medical needs such as taking tablets or medicine at a certain date or time.

6. Helpful for pregnancies - a pregnancy or birth calendar lets you plan for all situations and gives you essential alerts if needed.

7. Know which day and month it is. Obvious I know, but try to live without knowing the date and see what happens!

8. Express your love. Create a wall calendar that has your own family photos or children photos on it - looks great and everyone will want one!

9. Record your baby's development. Write in details as your baby grows - weight, height, size etc. (A birth diary is also good for this).

10. Know schedules at a glance. Sometimes you need to know when those exams are coming around, or when un-missable sports days and events are on!

11. General time management. Manage your time so you know if deadlines are looming and when those essential 'can't miss' meetings are on.

12. Make your own calendar. A calendar is the perfect tool to promote a business or a service. Everyone can use a calendar, so when you create an attractive designed calendar and offer it for free you may find people can't get enough of it!

Well that's just 12 ways to make use of a calendar. There's plenty more too! You can make school calendars (great projects for students), create a commercial calendar and sell it online, promote your photographic folio, and that's just the tip of the iceberg. Let me know how creative you get!

How To Turn Any Photo Into A Digital Photo Calendar In Minutes

Are you leaving your finest photographs collecting digital dust on your hard drive? Do you have vivid, 'precious moment' images that you'd like to look at more often? If so, how about turning them into a one-of-a-kind, custom digital photo calendar?

Of course, everyone knows that not all of our photos will be perfect... But some will jump right out at you and remind you of certain times and 'warm feeling' experiences. Grab these images! You're about to put them into your own portfolio - and showcase them proudly to the world (or at least, to your 'inner circle' of family and friends!)

For an abundance of good reasons, it's great to share our family or 'good times' images with others. In fact, you're naturally inclined to want 'everyone' to see them... But how? And 'what's the best way to do this?'

Well, one very cool way is by using a simple digital photo calendar. And just so we're clear, we're not talking about an actual 'digital photo calendar' here (although you could very well call it that) either. For simplicity's sake we just mean creating 'stunning' wall calendars using your own unique digital photos!

In other words... a 'photo calendar' which you can then print up, give to your friends or family, hang on your wall, promote across the Internet, sell on your website or photo blog, (or even on eBay), etc...

So let's go ahead and actually build ourselves one of these cool little photo calendars.

Here's what you do.

First up, you simply choose some of your favorite images. Then you need to do a little online exploring.. so what I've done is saved you some serious research time by listing a bunch of places where you can easily turn your digital photos into a photo calendar...

Here's a few websites that'll do that for you: http://www.bighugelabs.com, http://www.desktopwallpaperphotos.com, http://www.snapfish.com and http://www.cafepress.com. (The first two give you a free digital version of your calendar that you can download to your hard drive and then print out or save to a CD/take to a print shop. The others give you nice 'real' wall or desk calendar that you can purchase - and then 'send' to yourself, or a friend).

Actually... this is the real 'secret' behind getting your photos into a calendar... you just need to know where (as in, what web sites) to use. The rest of the process is reasonably straightforward. (Although you do need to have a fair idea of how to prepare your images before printing! Tip: Get someone to help you do this if it's going to be too challenging!)

Then just a few more simple steps...

a) upload your photo/s to one of the photo calendar web sites above.

b) choose a specific calendar size and other details

c) decide on a month and a year you want your calendar to have

d) then hit the 'create' button or order your own calendar...

Simple, eh? Once you've done all that then you'll have yourself an enjoyable photo calendar that you can then download onto your hard drive as a .PDF, or maybe a jpeg image file... Or, if you're 'outsourcing' the printing, you can expect to receive your calendar in a week or so...

But overall, not too bad for a few minutes work!

Then take your digital photo calendar 'work of art' and go impress your friends with it... Print it out onto card, or email to everyone you know, (try selling it on eBay), put it up proudly on your wall, or if you created and bought yourself a 'real' photo wall calendar, then send it to a few friends. They'll be touched by your thoughtfulness!

An Online Appointment Calendar Makes It Easy for College Advisors, Professors to Schedule Students

Technology has made the lives of today's college students and professors much easier. Students can review and select classes online, instead of having to pick up a course catalog or phone in their choices. Professors can post course information on their Web site, page or portal for review, making it easier for students to access the information. Some courses are conducted online, allowing students to attend from any Internet connection.

Yes, technology has certainly made the learning process more efficient in many aspects. However, there still exists the need for one-on-one, in-person meetings to discuss student progress, career goals, academic reviews and advisement, counseling and other important items. These sessions are important to a student's academic career, and e-mail or online chat simply does not provide the focus or attention that an in-office meeting does.

With the exception of open-office hours offered by many professors, these meetings usually require appointments, and scheduling these appointments can be a tedious and time-consuming task, especially when administrators and staff must take time to answer the phone or e-mail message, check availability, and then manually record the appointment in a paper schedule book, spreadsheet, folder or other document. On the same token, not having an appointment process in place could create challenges for a professor's open-office policy; there's a good probability of both long spans between students or a line of students waiting to get in.

In both of the above scenarios, the task of scheduling appointments can be quickly remedied with an online appointment calendar.

ONLINE STUDENT SELF-SCHEDULING IS THE KEY TO AUTOMATING, IMPROVING THE PROCESS

The biggest factor that makes appointment-scheduling such a burden to professors and administrators alike is how an appointment is taken. Calling in an appointment takes time, both for faculty and students. Sure, each call might only take a few minutes, but multiple this by dozens or hundreds of calls a collegiate department or office receive on a daily basis, and it soon turns into a full-time job for staff that already have a full plate of responsibilities. A few minutes may not be feasible for today's busy students as well, especially if they're unable to book their appointment during normal office hours. Plus, most of today's students are unaccustomed to picking up the phone to make an appointment, as they're used to conducting all of their tasks online.

The best way to automate and improve scheduling procedures, therefore, is to allow students to book their own appointments online and at their own convenience. That's what makes an online appointment calendar so appealing to an assortment of different businesses and organizations, including colleges and universities. Whether it's an academic office looking to book its sessions or a professor wishing to now require appointments when meeting with students, all it takes is a "Book Now" button on a Web site or social media page, such as Facebook or Twitter, to direct students to an online scheduler. Once there, a student will be able to view available days and times, select specific services (if applicable), and then book his or her appointment.

The system will then do the rest, without any additional action from the faculty member or administration. It will confirm the appointment, block off that slot from available times, and, in some systems, even send the student a confirmation e-mail or text message. Additionally, the user may also have the ability to schedule an automated e-mail or text message reminder sent to the student prior to his or her appointment time. (In addition to being a benefit to the student, these reminders can also significantly reduce the number of no-shows who fail to make their scheduled appointment times.)

Besides the convenience of online self-scheduling, an online appointment calendar also helps college administrators and professors better manage their students' contact and appointment information by centralizing it in one secure, easy-to-access database. There's no longer the need to juggle separate spreadsheets, folders and files. Users can quickly pull specific information right from their online scheduler calendar. Some online appointment calendars even offer standard reporting options, which take the legwork out of creating accurate and informative reports.

CLOUD TECHNOLOGY IS EFFICIENT, AFFORDABLE

The functionality of an online appointment calendar undoubtedly sounds appealing to most college administrators and professors. However, some of these individuals may equate the term "software" with additional expenses, extra hardware and ongoing maintenance. In regards to cloud-computing technology, nothing could be further from the truth, as an online appointment calendar is an efficient and affordable solution with few requirements or monetary expenses.

Most online appointment calendar services are "pay-as-you-go", with no long-term contracts. Additionally, they only require an Internet connection to use. There are no downloads, installations or pricey hardware necessary. The online appointment schedulers are accessible in the same manner as any Web site or e-mail service.

Like other cloud-based applications, an online appointment calendar is securely housed on an external server maintained by the service provider, who also oversees all ongoing maintenance, upgrades and updates to the program. This eliminates the need to involve a college's internal IT department or contract out technical support.

Scheduling student appointments is not rocket science. It can, however, be a hassle and a burden without a proven process in place. An online appointment calendar is just what most college departments and professors need to improve this important daily task.
